SKD and CKD

SKD (Semi Knocked Down) Semi Bulk Parts:

SKD refers to the main metal components of automobiles, such as engines, transmissions, etc., that have been welded, electrophoresed, and sprayed, and exist in the form of assemblies. In other words, SKD is in a semi disassembled state, with some assemblies already in place but still needing to be exported as semi-finished products or components.

Imported manufacturers will complete the finished vehicle and sell it in their home country by assembling it themselves.

CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly:

CKD refers to the export of automobiles in a fully assembled form, where certain parts of the vehicle such as the cab and rear axle may still be in a disassembled state and require further assembly.

Parts produced locally or imported at lower tariffs are assembled into complete vehicles using local labor and sold at lower retail prices.

The main difference between the two is:

Components are different: SKD is a semi bulk component, while CKD is a fully assembled component.

The export methods are different: SKD is exported in the form of semi-finished products or components, while CKD, although also exported in the form of loose parts, has a lower degree of assembly and requires more assembly work to complete the entire vehicle locally.

In summary, SKD and CKD represent semi bulk and fully bulk assembly, respectively, in international trade, and there are significant differences in the integrity and assembly degree of exported components.
